Want your class to experience outdoor learning about nature and the enviroment? Our Nature Education Centre has been designed to cater for preschool, school and community groups. You’ll enjoy a great learning environment no matter the weather. We have an Educator who will work through your programme of activities - for schools email and for workshops email

Inside facilities

  • An enclosed workshop/classroom (12m x 12m) - suitable for messy activities such as potting up seedlings
  • Environmental Resources designed to cater for a range of ages and learning levels
  • Murals - depicting local Southland scenes
  • Tables, chairs, projector screen, whiteboard
  • Toilet, water, zip electricity

Outside facilities

  • Nursery - growing native plants
  • Vegetable gardens, fruit and nut orchard areas
  • Native plant restoration area, ponds and mature native forest
  • Gravel track

Parking

You’ll find parking for cars and buses located at the entrance to 183 Grant Road. Follow the path through our orchard and vegetable garden area to the nursery and Nature Education Centre.

Can You Help us with a Donation

Donations are welcome to keep our Education Centre going. We are a Charitable Trust and the Centre and our Educator are provided free to schools. We fund this through donations and grants. If you would like to make a donation that will benefit all children attending our education sessions, the Southland Community Nursery account for direct credits is SBS Bank Account Number 031355 0645582 00. Please ask for a receipt if required -
