Places to Visit

Southland has many magnificent places to visit to see native plants and birds - Stewart Island, mainland Southland with Waituna Wetlands, the Longwoods, Takitimu and Eyre Mountains, coastal areas, Fiordland National Park to name but a few!

Find Out More about any of the plants listed by looking them up on the New Zealand Plant Conservation Website – www.nzpcn.org.nz

If you have a favourite place and would like a plant list for that place you can be almost guaranteed that Brian has done one - so send us an email and we will send a copy or add it to the website.

Many places in Southland also have associated restoration projects run by volunteers - these can be seen from the Southland Ecological Restoration Network (SERN) website. Help with these projects is always appreciated.

From the map you can click on a pin and see brief information about the vegetation there, the walking tracks and a botanical list of the plants found there.
